what's an ozzie kit cost? + shipping + duties. Curious.

Ah! Australia the Warm... I really wish I could help, as a friend of mine is leaving tomorrow for Cairns where she is going to spend the hollidas with her daughter, but alas size and weight is a big concern for bringing stuff back, so I am limited to small and light parts... If I can help with small things that are difficult to find let me know and I'll talk to her Tuesday when she arrives there.

Somehow I doubt she'll share your willingness to help a fellow-mudder. (Unless the daughter is willing to do all the work.) :D

Yeah, I see what you mean. But you forget things you guys take for granted that are extremely difficult to find here, and there are lots of small parts such as bolts, bearings and other miscelaneous small parts that are very difficult to find here.

In contrast, you guys seem to be able to simply walk in the local auto parts store, ask for the parts and walk away with them...

Gayle has been a good friend for several decades now and as long as the parts are not too difficult to get, too heavy or too expensive, I'm sure she would be glad to help... Within reason of course, I doubt she'd accept bringing back an engine rebuild kit!!!

Salut david,

I have done a 6BT into a similar sized vehicle and it is not worth it. The increase in weight and the overall size of the engine would require major modifications. Take a tape measure to a 6BT and you will see what I mean. 4BT is different but I think the 3B turboed is pretty darn close to a 4BT for most people, and has a nicer powerband and redline, not to mention it is 3X quieter and much smoother.

Hello David, I sent a message in connection with 3B to you which I had put has to sell, I could make you a reduced price. Check your PMs... Do not think has another engine, the 3B it is the best diesel on planet, I miss my BJ60!! Cummins Ca do not hold candle in the Toyota!

the 4bt is apparently a much harder install.

Than what? A 3B?

6bt

edit, obviously a 3b is a simpler install than a 6bt, the 6bt is just another option.

none the less there have been some impressive cruiser 6bt installs posted on mud. in my opinion and others here on this forum, cummins make a very good/reliable/strong diesel engine............ but each to there own.

cheers

G

Has anyone swapped a 6BT into a 70 series?

David, if you want a 6BT, I have a spare that I will sell you too... :D

We have one 3b rebuild kit, a set of 4 pre-cups, and 2 crates full of used pistons/rods and lots of misc 3b parts.
Plus we're in Canada

I can't come here as well I want to...

Anyway, here the final result.

The rebuilt kit and precup from Geoff Walsh with the rebuilt. Some fusion in the haed (to much space arounf the precup holes... ouch! That expensive !!) : 2300$ (I removed the engine and put it back by myself).

Well, it's not so bad.

$2300 for the whole job? Not too bad, plus it's as good as new! Compare that to and unknown, used engine for $1,500... You did OK!
