Dome lights randomly not working when doors are opened?

Hey guys, I noticed something odd when my wife got home today - she opened the rear hatch and no lights came on. Funny, I thought - must have been one of my kids messing with the dome light switches - so I reached into the space over the 3rd row and turned on the rear light, thinking it wasn't on the "door" position.

However, when I closed the tailgate, it stayed on. So I switched it back, and then when I went up to the driver's door, I realized none of the dome lights were on when I opened that door either. So I got in, pressed the "dome" switch, and instantly all interior lights came on - but stayed on after I closed the door!

I then played with the On/Off switch and the Dome switch to see what would happen, but couldn't simply get the overhead lights to come on with a door open.

I'm feeling dumb tonight and not in a particularly high state of problem solving. Am I missing something really basic? Thanks.

If you manually turn the interior lights on, then they will stay on after you close the door. But there is also a button up there that overrides the door-ON function. If the buttons are like my 2008, it is all too easy to mix them up as they are the ONE set of interior lights that are never illuminated (go figure!!!).

So... It could be that you accidentally left the DEACTIVATE-door-light button pressed. This would explain no lights when you open the door or hatch.

In my 2008...you want ALL buttons up front Unpressed...and then everything works as you are hoping. You are the 2013 update though, so I don't know if it's different on yours.

So now I have a self-healing car - today I got in it and with all the buttons unpressed, the dome lights are now working with the door open. Super weird, going to watch this for more strange behavior.

Thanks for confirming @Markuson - I swear none of the buttons were depressed last night before I started trying to troubleshoot, and yes I think our buttons are all the same at least for 2008-2015. Not sure if the 2016 update changed anything.

I think it's hilariously dumb that the ONLY buttons that do not have back illumination are the very buttons that interior lights CANNOT shine on...and therefor need back illumination the MOST! So silly... And the second, third, and fourth silliest things? -They are black...TINY...and have zero space between them.

Adding insult to that silliness... The LX backlights them...so it's not like they had to reinvent anything. Oh well...
