I have noticed there are some options as far as LED bulbs in my search, but where can I get just a basic dome light bulb? Is this something I can pick up at Wal-Mart? When I bought my 60, it didn't have one and I am not even totally sure what it looks like. I assume it is one of those cylindrical ones that looks kinda like a fuse?

Thanks,

C

It does kinda look like a glass fuse...most auto parts stores should have them. Will probably have to look up the right part no in a reference book though. Or, since it's a really cheap item, the dealer is an easy way to make sure you get exactly what you need.

yup. parts store will have it, forget which # it is........lemme look, hmmm does not say on the OM what its called, except its 10cp(candle power)

just take the old one out and hand it to the dude......."i need one of these"

if you're missing the dome light to compare for a new one - check the light in the back, top. it's the same if i remember.

i'm working on a full list of replacement bulbs for my LED order later this month.

i know you don't want one, BUT the LED ones are sweeeet! I just got both front / back installed - really nice. worth the 60$ imho. It will be nice to leave the door open and not worry about the battery, and it's a nice clean bright light. lights up the interior way better! that's my .02.

Leds are far superior, and are available for about $5.
These simply replace the old globe.

I got mine at http://www.ledshoponline.com
Once you've used them, you wouldn't buy anything else.
With a bit of simple modification, and the 6 led will fit.
cheers

i've been looking at purchasing from:
http://www.superbrightleds.com/

he seems to have better prices than anywhere else i've seen online. he also seems to have variations on each bulb, ie: 1156 taillight size can be had with 9, 12, 19 and 24. i of course will be trying out the 24 to see exactly how obnoxious that is. :]

all told, i priced out the lights for the truck all around and it came to like $162. that was about 12 bulbs? not counting the headlights as i have Hella H4s on the way.

loeky - hey bro. Do you intend to swap out turn signals as well with LEDs? how are you fixing the load/flasher issue? where the LEDs don't draw enough to trip the flasher...

I was thinking of doing the front driving lights *white*, and brakelights. I'd love to swap out the bulbs in the side running lights *amber and red*, but not sure which bulb it is. That and the license plate lights *another i dont know the bulb*. I'd love to NEVER swap another - PITA to reach. hehehe.

cbmontgo - it looks like no one answered your question. i'll look in my truck tonight and post the number for you.

sl33py - you got me there. i wasn't aware they didn't draw enough current to flick. if i remember correctly though, he sold differnt sized [more led's] wedge bulbts which would draw more - not sure if enough though? i was going to get the 5 led wedges to try. might need to buy one and test first though as i'm not sure of how much current each one draws and what's needed to trip.

as for the license frame bulb, they have one for that as well. i believe it's a #89. i have all the bulbs on a spreadsheet with what i'm replacing them with at home. i'll post it up here for those that are interested.

btw, all the bulbs i was buying will be white. i didn't go with any colors and will just let the lenses color the light. in theory, this would be brighter than limiting the light wavelength at the bulb level. i want it to be lit up like a christmas tree - i swear people are stupid and are always trying to run into the ******* thing.

someone correct me if i am wrong, but i thought you should get the same color of bulb as the lense so that ... not 100% sure, but thought it let it be brighter... doesn't make sense now...hmm...

anyone? bueller?

i need caffeine - my brain is slowly dying today...

wow - thanks loeky!

i would caution the LED lights for backing up lights. I saw a thread on the 80 forum, with a comparison. one LED one regular. The LED was nice and blue white, but didn't have the oomph to really light up behind the truck. FYI.

thanks for the tip the article in the 80s section. kinda bummed they aren't as bright as i'd hoped.

has anyone used the bulbs from here:
http://www.ledtronics.com/

these guys are more expensive, but now i'm wondering if it's because they are better. might have to buy one and find out.
