No veggies? No grains?

just a little --

"Moving on to the back of the package, you'll see the chick"en mix has butternut squash, broccoli and kale in it -- broccoli is a leading vegetable in anti-oxidants, and these veggies, along with the rest of the ingredients, sounds like quite the feast!"

That link is pretty informative as far as the ingredients and processes go.

I've been doing something similar for my guys for a while now but it's not nearly as measured or scientific.

Question about the Restor-A-Flex. I am wondering how much better that is with the combined ingredients than just a glucosamine tablet daily.

My dogs are large breed and weigh a lot. One has recently started limping after lying down for a while. It's not hip dysplasia, just age and stiffness catching up to him.

About 2 weeks ago I started giving him a daily 1500mg glucosamine tablet and it is amazing how much it seems to have helped.

Wondering how much more effective the Restor-A-Flex would be with the added Chondroitin and other ingredients. Maybe I'll have to try it out on him.

-- why don't you show a death-by-gunshot photo spread, you small child in a big child's body.

I'm starting my pups on the restore-a-flex next week. I've been giving them a flax seed oil supplement, and have been waiting for that to run out to start them on the flex.

I like the results the flax seed oil has given, both shiney coat and the big guy seems to be moving a bit easier, but I am worried about the long term effects of giving them that much oil in their diets.

what do you know about the VAL? Are there long-term effects from it?

how many CCs of flax do you put in per day?

when i use too much flax or salmon oil, everyone craps all over -- :frown:

Plus, I bet he's hitting home runs like crazy. If his testicles start shrinking and his hair falls out, I'd start to question the "cream" your vet gave you.

If I had a Pit Bull dog death-by-gunshot photo spread, I'd post em. Do you have any?

The oil isn't giving them the s***s. I only use 2 tbs per day on the big guy, but still... you wouldn't drink 2 tbs of oil per day would you?

I haven't heard of any kind of negative long term effects from the VAL... It's just an amino acid/vitamin supplement. I suppose, like with any vitamin, if you gave too much it could cause problems, unless the vitamins are water soluable, then they just pee out real easy.

cool -- thanks for this -- it's good to get it from the source --

You probably consume way more than that. Just not directly, any bakery product, fried food, or snack contains oils or fats.

Yes, but I don't chug canola afterwards.

The food I feed them already has pretty good fat supply in it, so I was hesitant to add more to their diets. I was only using it as a temporary alternative to gluc/chond supplements.

And yes, the cheese burger I had for lunch is making me very groggy right now. Maybe I need a VAL chaser.

<rusty gets out his paddle and attempts to get the thread back on course>

Please don't take this as a smart ass question, I really want to treat my current mutt as well as I possiably can. (We always treat our dogs as part of the family.) So if there is a better way than what I have been doing I really want to know.

I've raised a few healthy dogs on dry food and meat scraps. My last dog topped out at 90#, no fat.

All of my dogs have lived normal life spans, never had any dental problems, and always had healthy coats.

I always free feed my dogs and have never had one get over weight. This is easy with dry food but might be a problem with raw food.

So what would be my motive to change to a raw diet?
