They didn't have anything but small ones when I picked mine up. Makes me wonder if a large aftermarket filter is better than the small one from Toyota.

You can get the larger filter (which fits on all of the F series engines) from Toyota: 15600-41010.

You already know who has these in stock.

:p

I've run the large filter 15600-41010 on all the Land Cruisers Ive had. 78,87,91,93,94. You can still get the above part # although not all dealers will stock it.

also
51515 WIX
1515 NAPA

There is any advantage of running the bigger one vs the small one .. ? ( more than more oil, that isn't really much more )

I think the large ones are made in Japan, small ones in Thailand.
There is a whole thread on this if you search.

Both the -20004 and the -41010 oil filters are made in Japan.

The other filter that fits our trucks is the -YZZD3. I am not sure of the origen of these filters

The PO used Motorcraft and I have confirmed the number

If ever you are stuck and have no choice try this old Ford model: MOTORCRAFT FL-1A
or
Purolator Pure One PL10241 & PL30001
TRD 00602-90915-007
AMSOIL SDF 15

Yes, OEM makes us feel better, but sometimes you have to make due.

The MOTORCRAFT FL-1A is an excellent filter...and is in no way "making do".

I have posted the specs. here several times. I run it on my Cruiser with complete confidence.

Check the fram catalog at the local parts store for 1996 model year. Shows p/n for both large and small filters and that they changed to small the 2nd half of 1996.

Fram PH16, Mobil One etc.:wrench:

Do that, and then buy a different brand other than the FRAM.
