After I installed new stock springs, I found that my rear pressure was running about 7. To bring the pressure down I decided to install 30mm spacers.

Well, Slee was out of rear spacers for my LX so I looked at Ironman and Dobinsons.

Ironman spacers looked exactly the same as the Dobinsons but the Ironman, besides being green, said that they fit 80/100/Lx450/Lx470. Dobinsons said only 80/105.

Since they looked like the same casting which the Ironman site said would fit the LX470 ----and the fact that Dobinsons was only $50 a pair, I bought the Dobinsons.

Well as my luck will have it, the ID of the Dobinsons was about .150" smaller than the OD of the spring tower that they had to mount on. No way could I force them onto the towers.

I figured that they had to fit (hey Dobinsons) so I tried heating them up using my heat gun and finally a bucket of boiling water to expand them. No Joy.

So I turned the ID down just enough so that I had to push them on with a good amount of pressure. Happy I have a lathe.

Anyone else run into this? Are the 80 and 105 spring towers smaller in diameter than the 100 series?

From my experience 80/100/200 and 1st gen Sequoia can all use the same rear coil spacer. Were the ones you ordered for the front of an 80/105?

I bought them through eBay. Dobinsons Rear 30mm Polyurethane Coil Spacers (pair) Toyota Land Cruiser 80 | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/113945772566?hash=item1a87b28216:g:QfAAAOSwe4hdvJWH

Did they send me the wrong spacers"

I'm using the same dobinsons spacers for an 80 series they listed, exact same as 100 series ones....no worries

I hope you mean pushed "up" onto the towers.

The picture you posted looks different than the picture on Dobinsons website.

I know- thus my confusion. I have seen both styles on different websites which sell Dobinsons- all saying that they are for the rear springs. The trouble is most of the photos of the spacers installed are often generic and show some other truck.

The part number should be on the spacer, as such...

Dobinsons 30mm Spacer ps59-4007

I don’t remember the part number, but I used these on my 98 land cruiser with no problems. Maybe a year or a Lexus issue?

They seem to be doing the job so I am not going back in even if they are the wrong spacers.

After I turned the ID's down I hand pressed them up onto the towers and they seated well. Brought my rear pressure down from 7 to 6.2 MPa. Rear raised up by about .500". Height sensors are averaging close to 0 after 3-4 cycles.

Arrrgghhh.... I got bit by this today! And with the Ironman spacers! And it appears to be the same issue you had @MarkTR. Just like you mention, Ironman says these fit an LX470, but it is not true. The ID is too tight.

Stock appears to be around 134mm ID and the Ironman's are 132mm. Sounds like a small amount, but it is indeed enough to keep it from sitting flush at the top of the spring perch. Unfortunately I don't have a Lathe, so now I'm trying to figure out next steps. Maybe I can find a shop that will turn these down for me.

Edit: Given that the Slee spacers now appear to be out of production, does anyone know of 30mm spacers that fit out of the box? (See post below)

@hoser, just to confirm, you are saying that those black spacers fit on a LX470 for you?

No, I used Manafre branded/packaged 80 series spring spacers. Not Dobinson. And it was a very long time ago.

Got it. Thanks for letting us know. Given that, it sure seems like there aren't any 30mm spacers currently on the market that work. (At least that I know of)

That being said, @GTV is saying that I should "Grease it up and send it." I guess I could give that a shot first....

Ok, now I feel like an idiot. Apparently I was wrong and Slee DOES still have them! I think I was searching for spacers instead of "Spring Pads"

These look slightly different compared to the Ironmans. Maybe this has the correct ID? Wish I would have gotten these instead!

I would consider just buying a cheaper router and shaving the 2mm off. Not really mission critical precision needed and it'll add a tool to your collection.

This is a great idea and I almost went down this path. But this reminded me, I have a "big" 1/4" shank rotary tool (bigger than a Dremel) and that did the trick today! Just grinded the heck out of it, and was able to get ~1.5mm out of it. Still tight, but fits much better.
