If P4WOR single handidly, inspired and endorsed the desighn of a new model 4WD vehical by using its expirience and possably the numbers of its readers..........

may I ask those in the Toyota clan?

inspire Toyota to build something we want as opposed to forcing junk on to us?

simple question do you think the 100 is a worthy decendent of the 80?

and the 100's decendent?

whats next air ride, "sport" and "offroad" "mode" gyro stabylised, satelite trannsponed, geosncrinis orbit, in dash cofee maker, back seat hair and makeup artist, back seat dentist, a trannsmission that shifts itself, air conditioning that responds with my sweat glands, auto paralell parking, auto mind reading ora detecting auto drive ("take me to the cleaners") and ("get me out of this hole!!") tom, tom, or better yet "you" (my new Toyota) go to the store pick up some eggs..............................

would you like fries to go with that ?

seriously do you even want a Diesel?

how bout SFA?

I used to think there was power in numbers.

I used to think some one would build something on the premis that "it wont ever break" instead of "for the economy's sake".

Have I lost my faith or am I alone, why the Diesel section and why so full?

How long has this stuff (diesel) been around and were just now starting to take advantage of it?

1: Yes, I want a coil spring SFA Diesel powered LandCruiser.

2: No, Toyota is doing just fine without my help.

3: Mabie, get back with me in couple of years.

4: So, whats your point?

Am I missing something? They say Diesels are to expensive to import (Toyota) but I see them in 3rd world countrys.

A Domestic Diesel is CHEAPER?

All I want is an answer

Toyota currently manufactures a 105 Land Cruiser with solid front axle, 1HD-FTE turbo diesel and all of the current goodies available in the US-spec 100-series/Lexus LX470 and then some. Import that.

Now if only they offered all that with a standard transmission, but they don't. :frown:

If they did, I would VERY seriously consider doing some "shady" stuff to get one here

Aren't 105 series out of production. I think 02 or 03 was the last year.

As for an answer, move out of the US to a market country where you actually MIGHT need a truck with all that stuff. Otherwise stop belly aching, import what you want but don't expect Toyota to make a move based on 1% of possible buyers of new Land Cruisers.

tntoyota- face the facts. The power in "numbers" you speak of is very small, because the percentage of people who purchase $50k+ SUVs and offroad them is miniscule. Toyota's answer to what you seem to want was the FJ Cruiser. A relatively inexpensive, offroad capable rig. Diesel? Not right now, but you never know. SFA? Probably never because the market has moved "past" SFA.

Just think for a minute about the market for Landcruisers in the US. What percentage of buyers who are in the market for Landcruisers plan to wheel them? We're not talking about people like most of us who waited for depreciation to work the price of a Landcruiser down to something affordable, we're talking about the original purchasers/owners here because THOSE are the people Toyota cares about. When you can convince a significant percentage of THOSE people to ask for those features, maybe you'll get somewhere.

Perhaps a saving grace here is that Toyota may put a diesel in the new Landcruiser. Until then, enjoy the FJ Cruiser because i think that's as close to a 40 series as you're going to see from Toyota.

Oh yeah, and........Chat!!!

I'm not belly aching Im asking a question wich aperently I now know WHY Toyota thinks the way it does......

geese talk about genicide!

If a magazine can build a 4x4, ONE, 1, magazine, then WTF can a fourm do?

A fourm full of how and whys where everybody cryes and no one wants to do anything about it.

Mud the 1% fourm.

The vehicle you are talking about exists. It is called the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited. Just needs a diesel, and given Daimler's diesel heritage and the newer diesel technology, it may be likely to get one.

As stated above, Toyota's take on this market is the FJ Cruiser, which I am fond of having wheeled twice with the Toyota FJ Trail Team, but the FJ isn't close to the base platform that an Unlimited Rubicon is.

Toyota is a long way from the market you are talking about. The Rubicon may be the only modern rig that is largely based on offering from the factory a set of what were commonplace aftermarket options: A heavy duty t-case with 4:1 low range and fixed rear yoke (used to come with slip yoke in the t-case output shaft), upgraded front and rear axles with locking diffs, electronic swaybar disconnects.

Which is why you have to love the 80 - it's only missing the low range and swaybar discos. I don't care what Toyota is putting out now - it will be too electronic laden, low slung, and complicated compared to the simplicity of 80 platform. You ask Toyota to bring that platform back, and it wouldn't sell for $30K in 2007.

Chat...

All 80 series owners already have a SFA

Chat, and written at a 4th grade level at that.

Ken or Jamie, please move this drivel elsewhere.

Closest thing we get here is the rubicon wrangler, grand cherokee.... both just missing a diesel but the grand is getting one this year so that will be it. Land rover also gets the sfa formula but no diesel in the U.S. market yet

1: Yes, I want a coil spring SFA Diesel powered LandCruiser.
so get an 80 and put a diesel in it

2: No, Toyota is doing just fine without my help.
Yeah they are. #2 auto maker in the world and growing

4: So, whats your point?
so what is it?

A fourm full of how and whys where everybody cryes and no one wants to do anything about it.

you are the one crying and wanting someone else to do something about it. There are diesel conversions written up here on Mud. There is plenty of discussion on the subject.
How is this adding any technical benefit to the "1%" (as you put it)

Land rover also gets the sfa formula but no diesel in the U.S. market yet

LR dropped the SFA in favor of IFS/IRS on the LR3. I don't think they have SFA in the US anymore?

really.... I didn't know that about the LR3.... can't you still get a range rover in a sfa or is that gone too???

Luxury SUV's rock crawling?

you got a fourt grade education?

just buy an 80 and put a diesel in it?

simple fact Peaterson's Four Wheel And Off-Road basicly built the Rubicon,

and all you jump my gritts for asking Do you even care enough to try and solve your problems?

Mmmm. Ok.

Find a 2006 or newer LX470 that has been in a front end collision where the front IFS and the motor are pretty much shot. Purchase this from the insurance company.

Legally import a low mileage, as new as possible 1HD-FTE half cut.

Depending on your drothers, have Diamond Axles or Portal-Tech hook you up with some high-pinion Ford 9" centers with your choice of lockers and use either a H1 portal box on the end, D60 bits or ??? Slee has the other bits and pieces like a wide variety of spring lengths.

It just takes time and money.

YOU are WRONG,
You are also a troll, and we know that you can type coherently but choose to type like a third grader from West Virginia.
This has very little to do with 80 series tech, and you miserably fail to prove a point with any of your linked threads.

what you are trying to tell me is a certen 1 Ton WITH a certen Diesel is CHEAPER than a Diesel LandCruiser??????????

I'm not sure what this is in response to, or what you're trying to say for that matter.

Play nice kids . . . . . . . :grinpimp:

Why can't we all just get along:doh:
