Do all the freeze plugs have same backspacing? (1 Viewer)

Hello all,
I am trying to install a block heater in my 1985 FJ-60 with a 2F and was wondering if all the freeze plugs have the same amount of space behind them in the water jacket? The reason I ask is because I would like to install it in the 3rd freeze plug back from the front. It's tight up in there! Thanks for all your help guys.

The instructions that came with the heaters I've installed suggested the 2nd hole from the front......

Never tried any different..............

Yeah, Mine says the same thing, but it looks difficult to punch out the freeze plug in the position. How did you do it?

Yes, it is a bitch especially if the smog crap is still in tact........

I'm sure there's adequate clearence in the 3rd hole, I suspect they recommend #2 because its somewhat centered, closer to the radiator and will distribute the heat more evenly......
