Tomorrow I'm going 'dizzy hunting' at my buddies place. He's got 18 L.C. in his back yard.Mine is a '74 with vac retard. If I'm reading all the posts right,I need a pre '68 or a '78-80 dizzy to drop right in my '74 to make it vac advance.I want to keep the smaller dist. cap,and not have to worry about the side plate.
Am I correct on this? Thanks!!

Yep, but the main thing is to look at the vacuum diaphragm on the distributor. You don't know what POs have done (I have a VA distributor on my 71, for instance), so look for distributors with diaphragms facing the front. Then, make sure the one you find is an Aisen, not a Delco-Remy.

but don't pass up the 81+ dizzy out of a 40 or a 60......the side plate is no biggy and you can prolly rob it off one of his rigs.

Pre 68 will have the little dial on it for adjusting(timing) for octane, makes it pretty easy to swap, if you get that one I think you want to grab the mount off the block to match.

good luck :)

Thanks Pimp!!! I already told him I'd be there most of the day!!!
