DIY: Worn-out seat arm rests? Just flip them over!

Looking into this myself as well. It looks like the padding is just some 1/8" open cell foam that is adhered to the armrest frame. The leather cover then slips over that. Seems like there are some sellers on Ebay, but I do not have any experience yet. Let me know if you find anything that looks promising.

Have some new covers for the armrests and center console being made. Will report back when they arrive.

My foam is shot too...you are recommending open cell foam? I'm not up on the differences/benefits between open vs closed. Looks like 1" to 1.5" thickness would be about right....

I just did this today, thank you @Pyrenees. That was a quick & simple solution.

I grew tired of looking for something that wasn't overpriced for a piece stitched together leather that would fit our trucks. Now I'm going to order some leather and take out my bodkin and stitch a new set whenever I feel the need. No I'm not a seamstress, heck I've never even dated one but it's game on anyway.

Thanks again for the long ago write up.

Years later, it's still holding up well. One of the best mods I've ever done haha.

Bringing back an old thread. Thank you OP. just did mine. My foam was pretty dilapidated so in true cheap bastard form I folded up some shop towels and layered them under the leather where it’s worn out. Greatly improved the cushion. Now there’s no more cracked leather up top and more cushion for road trips. Perfect.
