I know everyone hates these types of threads but I've just about lost my marbles trying to track this one down. I've had this noise for over a year I believe.

My first guess is the top few coils on my Dobinson's (front end) are placed just far enough apart, that in certain scenarios (generally between 10-40mph, on rougher roads) the front end will start sounding like a diving board rattle/vibration. However, it's hard to verify. Does anyone else have this issue?

See the top coils... They are about 0.5mm apart.

Funny you say this. I also run the Icon Stage 4 set up, but with the Icon springs. In select scenarios, generally making a slow, sharp turn on uneven ground (wheels cocked and suspension mildly articulating), I get a "springy release twang" sounds as well. I always assumed it was a spring shifting slighting in the perch, though it seems to be coming from teh back on mine. Purely speculative, but I hypothesize that it could also be related to my rear panhard bar. Perhaps using the @Delta VS rear panhard mount might correct some geometry and bring things back into alignment... :meh:

That sounds a bit different from what I am experiencing.

Mine is generally just driving, especially on washboard. It sounds like if you were to hold a metal ruler over the side of a metal table, bend the end down and release... "BOING".

Probably not going to figure it out here, even though I've literally hit everything with a rubber mallet trying to replicate it. Driving me nuts and the only thing it seems like it could be is the springs. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this or not.

Do you know if the rubber pads or dampers are still there? When I removed my spacers I got terrible clanking noises because mine were gone. I finally added some 5 or 10mm spacers and it mostly went away. I could see how the spacing between the upper coils could cause similar issues...

I've got the ICON lift and had metallic clanging noises over bumps, tracked the noise to the front springs after a lot of investigation. Tracked down these Tein Spring silencers and they worked like magic. I believe it was the large ones I went with based on spring diameter.

This looks VERY intriguing.

I have this too after installing 4" dobinsons flexi springs and removing my coils spacers. I have assumed it is my bumpstops hitting the spring.

Hmmm, I've had a squeak in the front end that I assumed was related to worn poly bushings, but it's still present after replacing the bushings with rubber. Just this last weekend while wheeling I imagined it to be the metal of the spring rubbing against the spring perch, which is exactly what those spring isolators would be perfect for! 🤔

I am running the Dobinsons 3.5" tapered up front and I needed to lengthen my front panhard just a hair because in the right scenario the spring would slightly rub/rattle against the frame/bracketry just inboard of the coil.

Welp, I lifted up the front end and stuck a bunch of neoprene from an old wetsuit into the close coil winds and ... no more annoying rattle. May grab some of that silencer rubber that @IanB linked for a long term solution! Thanks!!

Bought a couple sets from this site FYI.

I think these may solve a problem that I've been trying to track down for months! Anyone have a pic with the silencer installed?

They solved my problem!! I think these pics were when I had installed them... Just jacked up frame and slid them on.

I need these! Do you have any idea what size was purchased? I could not be lazy and go measure too..

I had posted initially that I thought it was the large ones I'd used, but measure to be sure.

Stock springs are 114mm.

Size medium runs 90-130mm.

Thx!
