I like my new Dissent rear bumper and am getting ready for a trip next week and was looking at where I could lift on with my hi-lift. I don’t see any good options. All the surfaces on the bottom are angled. I wish it had integrated t-slots in the side wings. I can use my sliders to lift a rear corner but I’d like other options. Anyone with a Dissent rear bumper see something I’m missing?

Short straps though the wheel spokes, and the trailer hitch opening are two other options that I've used on trail on my 200, with a hi-lift.

Could you also run something through the new Dissent recovery ears that are bolted to the frame?

Put a bow shackle through the eyelets on the rear and slip the hi-lift paw in it.

In case you thought I was joking, this is what I meant by short straps: Shorty Strap II and III | Factor 55 - https://factor55.com/product/shorty-strap-ii-and-iii/

I have done this on a real recovery on my 200 and it works. It will work as long as you have rims where you can fit the straps through the "spokes", the strap is short enough, and you have a nice tall hi-lift. Just be mindful of body contact with the jack post.

Oh, and I didn't make this up, a I4WDTA instructor showed it to me.

Brilliant. I was already over engineering in my head a custom bracket to attach there.

Rather than start a new thread, which Hi-Lift are you guys using? To be honest, I've never had one. Can I get away with the 42"-er rather than the 48"? Any issues with mounting either on the tire swingout? Anything else I need to know?

So I initially bought a 48” hi-lift (didn’t know they made a 42”). I used it once in the garage lifting the front of the truck and 48 inches was barely enough to do the job. That is partially because of how I had to attach to the Dissent front bumper. I returned the 48 inch and bought a 60 inch. IMO, you can get buy with a 48” jack but if you actually use it on a lifted vehicle that may not be on a nice paved road or garage floor, you will wish you had the 60”.

As for brand I went with the actual hi-lift jack. Again, IMO, these things are dangerous and have a little mechanical parts that can bind up under load. Quality is important here. Maintenance and lubrication is also important here. I see lots of highlift jacks attached to vehicles that look like they’ve just been there for years and probably have. If you don’t protect the mechanical parts from the elements and keep it oiled up it will not work when you need it to. It’s a bad day when you lift a 7000 pound vehicle and can’t get the jack to lower underload.

...and any tips on mounting to Dissent rear swing arm? I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel here.

The dissent swing arm comes with a high lift jack mount.

Yes, I know. Are folks just using a bolt with some washers and then a wingnut? Again not trying to solve a problem that everyone else may have already.

Mounting orientation?

I haven't installed mine yet, but someone, maybe @tbisaacs, posted pictures of his recently.

Taking the base off makes it much easier. I just tossed it in one of my drawers. I added some jam nuts on the mount to move the jack a little further out since my tire is a 295

Mud is awesome. Thanks man!

I'm always overthinking stuff; figured there was an easier way.

Are you just gonna bust out the socket set when you need to use the jack? What if you sockets are in your drawers, and your in a situation (i.e. stuck) where you can't get the rear open? Again probably overthinking this.

Did you drop a padlock on the jack, or just thinking the time to pull it off is too much (and if anyone wants it that bad, they probably have bolt cutters anyway.)

Mine is mounted like @tbisaacs and I take it off every time I put the truck in my garage on the city (it normally lives a life if leisure in a big metal building at the lake). I keep my small impact in the back with a 19mm socket on it.

The recovery situation you brought up is real though. I had such a situation pre-Dissent rear bumper install so it wasn’t really an issue as I could open the upper hatch. However with the Dissent bumper and swing outs I would’ve been unable to get into the back. My solution is an accessory box that I keep my recovery gear and tools in mounted on the accessory swing out. I may throw my little impact in there one on the trail.

Chronic over thinker here too! All good.

My sockets are actually in wings of my drawers so in a situation where hatch cannot be opened, I’d just crawl through the backseat. My jack isn’t locked. If anyone wants to wrestle with it, best of luck to them.

Got it mounted. Also used and offset to make sure it wouldn't hit my tire. Plan to keep a 19mm wrench in my wing to make sure I can get it off if I can't get my rear/drawers open.

Thanks again to all for the advise!

Lastly, If anyone wants to swap a red handle for a black handle @LCDC, let me know. :D I'd prefer to have just all black, rather than a red handle.
