Working on rebuilding my disc brake calipers and I buggered up the pistons getting them out. Of course, afterwards I read about using compressed air to pop them out.

The "working" portion of the pistons are OK, but the stepped section, as you can see, are not. Can I use them or have I ruined them?

The vise grip marks on the smaller diameter lip aren't a big deal, but the sealing surface of the pistons seems to be nicked or scratched. If it won't polish out with 600 grit silicon carbide paper, get new ones.

BTW, you can just pump the pedal with the line hooked up to pump them out ( or at least most of the way out).
