Congratulations on the new truck! Can't wait to see the build. Question: if you run a clean roof, what to do about mounting an antenna for comms?

Also, Tim, do you have a build thread or some details about Goose before Campteq? Specifically, I'm interested in building my 80 in a similar "light" configuration.

...Roll that beautiful bean footage!

Here's an idea..... Other than a set of decent tires (and recovery stuff) you should run the cruiser totally stock. During your travels showcase how capable it is in stock form with good technique :steer:

If you make it back up to central Oregon feel free to reach out. We have a place you can crash and if you get the itch you can take my old XR400 (plated) out for some trail riding.

We are super excited to introduce you to our new vehicle! It has been a little bit of a search while we were trying to decide which vehicle would make sense, fit our budget, and do all the things we wanted. What did we decide on?

Imagine that. Tim got an LC. Who could have seen this coming? Just about everybody!

Congratulations Tim on moving up into a 200 series. I love the sound of that 5.7L, especially with the Toyota off-road exhaust. I loved the 4.7L in my 2006 but not the timing belt! I miss my 100 series but not all the rust. Looking forward to seeing all of your new videos!

Question: Does it have AHC?

KDSS, no AHC. I've gotten to play with 4runners and LC's with KDSS, but I'm really enjoying seeing more of what it can do now. I love KDSS because there is no electronics, nice and mechanical. Not that I've heard AHC has issues, it seems great compared to electronic systems of old.

It depends. If we're just at a desert race we'll throw a magmount antenna attached to a handheld, but we may do a fender mount to a mobile Ham if needed. Here is a somewhat half assed build thread for Goose: Goose - Our Poptop FZJ80 - https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/goose-our-poptop-fzj80.189728/
Goose was a LC version of Lulu which was a similar truck, but a 4runner I had for many years. That build thread is more complete from new.
Similar bed platform etc. Looking to replicate what I've learned from the two bed platforms for this truck, but no building bumpers from scratch this time around. That was a task.

My '06 LC had it. A couple of height sensors failed and I had to drive it home at full height. It was like a SoCal high rider and very bumpy! Replaced the sensor and never had a problem after that. I need to study up on KDSS because it sounds really cool!

We are beyond excited to be back on the road. Join us on our first official adventure in the new 200 series! We make it to San Carlos Mexico to explore the coast and find our own little slice of heaven. We spend a few days just watching the world go by. Be it birds, beautiful sunsets, or the fisherman, we are thoroughly entertained at this magical spot. Man does it feel good to be free again!
