I am installing a new rear bumper. When I took my stock one off, I found 1/4" to 1" of dirt as far as I can see inside of the frame.

Has anyone esle seen this? I was thinking about just flushing it out with a hose. May not be the best idea but I don't know what else to do. Suggestions please!

Howdy! Howe will work, but a roll of quarters down at the local car was will work a lot faster!! John

It gets in all the holes in the inside of the frame rails. It usually solidifies pretty hard, don't know that just a hose would get it out. The rear frame is probably the worst, big rusting problem on the earlier wagons back there.

Just make sure if you're snaking a hose in there you don't dowse any wiring harnesses.

Get all of it out, as thoroughly as you can. Dirt traps moisture, and moisture, of course, is bad...

The best time to clean inside the frame rails is after a few days of rainy weather.
The dirt gets soft and flushes out pretty easy.
Once you get it clean stay on top of it and you shouldn't have problems.

My neighbor posted a sign accepting "clean dirt" on her property. Wonder if she will find some...

Silt? How long have you had this truck?
