i see people having issues with it lit up while in park, but mine is out until i put it in any gear, then the a/t p light comes on. truck drives/shifts fine. this started after i had the cluster apart to replace the park bulb. i've checked the tcase and it's definitely in gear.

all i can find about the a/t p light is that it tells you that the t case is in neutral. I did find a circuit diagram in the service manual that looks like the a/t p switch is getting power from the pnp circuit. haven't had time to check the pnp and neutral switches, but does it sound like i'm on the right track?

Yes Iggy, you are on the right track. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone having this problem though. Most of the dash cluster lamps are switched ground, meaning they always have +12v to the lamp and the circuit is completed (thus illuminating the lamp) by completing the circuit to ground. HTH.

Let me know if you want the EWD pages for this circuit and I will be happy to post them or PM them to you.
