Is there a difference between the two? Size, dimension (sp?), will a 78' tank fit in a 74?

    Thanks Guys.

    umm, that would be 1978.

they are interchangable. the slightly smaller tank showed up in '73. from that point to late '78 they are the same.

74 to 78 shoudl be identical.

Unless the tank is UNDER the tub (late 78's had these sometimes)

while they are the same, you should give a new tank some thought. oem steel tanks are still availible. if you need to save pennies the plastic tanks are 100ish bucks less then the steels............but i (read:i should have) would just save for a new steel tank.

rusty tanks are nothing but headaches......not that i would know..........

Where do you live? i have a spare 74 tank that leaks, but i have heard of fixing them (in case you want a second tank to fix while the other is in your truck...). i think if you want long term peace of mind, i think buying a new one is teh best solution...
