I have a line on a frme and axles for a 81 fj-40. I know the flangs are different, are these a better axle an frame? I need to up grade axles, for I have a 67 with 10 splines. Or should I look for around a 70-74 axles. The split case t-case of the 81, will any of the 67 gears fit? I would like to keep the lower gears.

Housings are the same, but it is a better axle. The only bad part is the 79 will have 3.7 ratio gears and your 67 has 4.1 ratio. 79 also adds discs and better birfs, which the 70-74 does not.

79 frame does not match the 67, different body mount setup entirely.

Split t-cases and your 67 t-case have no interchangable parts. The split case probably has about 2.1:1 low, the 67 case is 2.313:1, so it's lower, but not nearly as strong.
