I assume you worked it out the proper way by filling the tank,going for a drive and then topping it up?

Nope, I've never had the opertunity to do that.
It got part of the Needle below the lowest line on the Guage, on level ground, I filled it to the brim which got me 55L. Today, whilst driving around the s***y, the Guage got to the same point after doing a pretty much 365km.
