I finished running my 2L in, this past weekend.
The first trip of one day(400km), I averaged 15.#L/100km - Penrite Running In Oil SAE 20W/50 API CC
This weekends trip over two days(5##km), I used 14-18L/100km - Repco SAE 20W/50 API CC
On the Highway I can't hold 100km/h and it'll drop to 80km/h and it takes along time to get back to 100km/h. I did get upto 132km/h going down a very long hill.

Diesels are s***

This morning I changed the Oil for the third time, and tomorrow I'll start driving the Hilux daily. :)

do you mean diesels are THE s***?

as we'd say here in the 'States...

14L/100km = 16.80104 US MPG

16L/100km = 14.70091 US MPG
17L/100km = 13.83615 US MPG

OK I thought those numbers were bad but thanks for the translation;)

I get about 2x the mileage and can cruise all day long at 100+ km/h with my 3B. Something is not right...

What kind of smoke is coming out the back Fergie?

Bring us up to date on the rebuild. What new parts did you add?

None, ever.

The whole lot, including rebuild of Injector Pump and Injectors.

something isn't right. no way it should be that bad. I run 10.5 Litres per 100 kms driving at 100 kmph. and 12-13 in town. Pushing a 2300 kg 60 series.

you got something going on

Got the same truck as you Jonathan. Getting 9.5L/ 100 kms easy. Will hold 100 km/hr in 5th uphill if I can get it revved up over 3000 beforehand - and some a-hole doesnt cut me off etc. Sorry to hear your woes man....have you done a compression check?

It HAS to get better....

So no black white or greay smoke?
It just lacks power and sucks fuel. Is that correct?
Is it running hot?
Its non turbo right.

Maybe the fuel needs adjusting, take it back to the injection shop and see what they say.
Ask about putting it on the dyno and testing the HP. Most injection shop do it htis way

No colouring at all.

Acceleration from Traffic Lights is fine.

No, it doesn't fluctuate either.

No Turbo

Sounds more like a pump adjustment to me.

Another thing rebuilt motors can be tight for a few thousand klms most noticeable at top speed.

Hmmm not quite with you, are you saying it's good, or bad? Do you anticipate head problems with your engine?

Actually I was going to ask what was done with the head and valves during the rebuild?

Is it not true that if your bottom end is rebuilt and your valve seat are worn you will be blowing compression past them?

Have the valves been adjusted? What is the procedure after a rebuild?

I assume all filters etc. have been changed out.

Did you take that boat anchor off the back?

:)

exactly, now we are getting to route of the problem ...:D but seriously, maybe you have something causing driveline friction, or brakes are on in the back. Does it coast or slow down easily? Maybe things got stuck while it sat for so soo long during an engine rebuild. Emergency(park) brake stuck on slightly. etc.

maybe are simple things as poor lubricated bearings .. grease, or with size of tires you are running . ?

The Ferg, man you gotta to get it strait first of all.\

Must of done something wrong along the way to get that kind of economey out of the 2L.

Maybe not you mate, possibly someone else helping on the build.

First of all it seems like kinda heavy oil for that engine completely rebuilt.

Went through simular problems with a 2H, threw in heavey oil and it drove like crap and did not get any kinda milage. Then put in simple not detergent 40 weight oil, pulled a trailor up a hill with the rad covered at full throttle and it helped set int he rings.

Might not work for you but sure a s*** it worked for me...

Hand Brake isn't dragging.
I changed the Diff Oil prior to the second Trip. - Valvoline GL-5 SAE 75W/90
Tyres are 31" Interco LTB, and they're fine on the Highway.
Head was completely done, except for the Valve Springs. - They're not listed on the Receipt.

What order is this in?

Is it improving or  getting worse?

How many klms since start up?

This is weird because excessive fuel usage is normally accompanied by overheating and/or excessive smoke.

How does the power feel ?
The acceleration through first, second and third around the Suburbs is fine(I can easily keep up with Traffic). - It just can't hold 100km/h on the highway.
