I have the opportunity to get a 4 cylinder diesel built in 1981 with 500 hours on it. It is currently hooked up to a generator. The only info on the Engine states that it is a White Engine from Canton, Ohio. Does anyone know what brand of motor this would be.
Thanks
Tom

White Diesel

It off a 45KW generator. I am going to look in the files on Monday. May get lucky and find some info.

engine

Hercules Engine Division of the White Motor Corporation. Defunct since 1999. If it was built as a generator set, it is not a good choice--it will have an SAE flywheel housing, drive plate and starter, and worse, a low rpm, constant speed governor. If it is a D2300, some were used in busses and automotive-style support equipment, but there are better candidates for an engine swap.

I have seen one in a dodge M37 a low revving engine
