Any thoughts on which is the best value for money diesel compression tester preferably one that will fit the toyota glow plug hole.

They seem to be cheaper in North America on Ebay than I can get them for here.
The 3 brands Ive seen on ebay are Snap on,S&G and Teng from a UK dealer.

The S&G is the cheapest and the freight was also low. Anyone have experience with S&G ??

Maybe I should have posted this in outfitting but I figured not too many would know about these over there;)

Compression testing is yesterdays technology. Now it's all about leakage testing :D

The glow plug holes are a fine metric thread, like M10x1.00 or something like that IIRC

What do you use for leakage testing?
I only want something to gauge the general condition of the engine.

My deisel shop reckon the easiest and best is to use the dyno
If the pump and injectors are good then it must reach max HP or its a dead motor.

I bought this one from the USA and I am very happy with it.Star, tu15-51, made inRacine Wi53401. Fits most engines that I need it for.:D

Thats a good explanation and I may get a set up like that ,but for now I want something easily portable;)

I could have got a Snap on cheap from ebay but someone was playing Warcraft on my computer which freezes my auction sniper and I missed out:mad:

So to revive a long dead thread... I need to pick up a compression tester... something to fit both the 3B and 1HZ. Any suggestions on brand/model? How much $$$ for the snap-on?

Ebay is best

Don't worry too much about compression, says I. Just drive it and see how it feels! Then you don't have to bleed the system.

A diesel is going to cost $5000+ to rebuild if you get it wrong.

If you don't have a tester,a cold start often determines an engines condition.
