Had the springs rearched today and got the man a fre long leaf added to the pack, came out with 1 1/2. Doesnt seem like much but I could tell driving up to the truck it was sitting higher and getting in required a little more tip toe.. Was expecting the "harsh" new ride due to the add a leaf but seemed fine to me. The truck didnt seem to role as much into sharp turns and seemed more stable. Maybe a bit more bouncy over bumps but I like it. I have had the TPI 3 1/2" lift for several years now with an arb(front)bumper and sliders but adding a heavy rear bumper soon from 4x4 labs and didnt want to keep sagging lower from weight so this was a pretty inexpensive re lift if you will. Until SOA can happen. :)
Thought I would share, thats all folks.

SOA is probably a couple of years down the road. When that happens, hmmm Im not sure, no I dont want thee 3 1/2" lift on top of the soa. Im assuming I will de arch my springs at that point.

Port, what extra parts do you need to order for the long MAF add-a-leafs? Or do they fit right in with the OEM pack and hardware? Got any pics of the installation? I'm not sure I understand exactly how they work.

I too my 60 out fro a camping trip this weekend and the moderat eload in the back had my rear springs totally flat anad bottoming out all the time, so I think I'm goignt ot odo ana add a leaf to get back in shape.

I'd say you need longer spring pins (the single pin perpendicular to the centre of your pack), just head to your local spring shop and pick some up. Bring one of your stock pins with you (obviously as you are doing the install, go early).

I ended up breaking two the longer pins that came with my MAF leaves (dunno how. Maybe it was just bad pins, but they sheared under very little stress), so I used grade 8 bolts instead. When I broke down my spring packs, I coated everything with Slip Plate after giving it all a run through the sandblaster. Made it a royal pain to put 'em back together, but they didn't bind or make any noise at all when the truck's weight bounced on 'em.

dmede808, I HIGHLY recommend using C clamps when you put your spring packs together with the AALs. Tighten the C clamps a bit, tighten the bolt/pin, C clamp, pin, etc. Helped a lot when I did mine.

i just finished my add a leaf install (also form MAF) they come with spring pins and they are exta long to aid in the install. some would reccomend new u bolts but i reused my old ones. the nuts went on till the bolt was flush with the end of the nut. No problem. You may also need new spring pins and shackles. I also reused my old hardware but it was a pain to try to preserve these. If you have the extra cash i'd reccomend buying them new. The main reason I hesitated on the shackles is I didn't know what I'd need to get the truck level after the lift.
My rear springs are also worn out so I'm also adding a 1.5" lift shackles to the rear to get it level. After adding the add a leaf to the front I still had some squat in the rear. the 1.5" will probably give me 1/2 inch or so higher in the rear when it's all said and done.
