On the LX that is...
Ok, so not much a tech thread but I wanted to share a few thoughts and comments:
THis is my first Toyota where accessing the oil filter is actually fun. On my current Taco (3.4 V6) or my previous 994Runner (same engine) getting to the oil filter requires removing the skidplate or thru the drivers side tire/wheel area. Its great to remove a couple bolts, set mini cover aside and there it is. Oh and I gotta mention the mini drain spout on the filter area, its great at directing the oil and not end up with some on the skidplate itself.
As far as gettting to the drain bolt, similar thing remove another small cover and there it is.
I ended up pouring 7+ quarts of Amsoil Series 2000 0W-30 Synthetic and used a Wix filter (part # 51348). I noticed that the Wix filter is smaller than the OEM Toyota one. Has anyone figured out the next larger Wix filter that will work on the 4.7 V8?
