Just wondering. Everyone I know is a lot poorer than they were 5 years ago, but everywhere I look online and in the dealerships, vehicles are priced higher than ever before.

There are deals out there, but there seems to be a plethora of overpriced used up junk, that is in no way, priced according to it's value.

I understand that the prices of new cars is still going up, but I really don't think a 2002 Powerstroke with 150K miles on it, is worth 25K.

Or this one:

I know it can't be the fact that financing is so easy to get right now, as the banks are getting tighter and tighter with lending.

Just wondering. Maybe I missed out on the money tree that Obama was passing out last year.:meh:

I'm right there with you. I don't understand why or how people are asking twice what the book value is and apparently getting it. And like you, I'm not sure where the money for 15-20 year old vehicles is coming from. We know the average citizen has no savings account, extrememly high interest credit cards only and the banks certainly aren't going to loan any money on a vehicle that old.

Like a buddy said, the downturn in the economy seems to have made houses cheaper and used cars more expensive.

Guess i can buy a mobile home, cut fenderwells in it and drive that... Wonder what the smog law would be on a 60,s 10x35?

Know the feeling.. Just like the 87 Cruiser I just went and looked at that EASILY need $3k of work on it that I could pick out and the guy was asking $2200 (that doesnt include a new paint job).

Been looking for months for a reasonably priced FJ60 that is not completely destroyed and in Tan. Have a feeling I am going to have to give up on one of those things and make a compromise. But as my coworker says, paint color can easily be changed, the rest, not so much.

Gotta pay the Toyota tax, which incidentally seems to be as high or higher than the Jeep/Boat/Harley Davidson tax...

Repair needs, age, mileage or other issues don't seem to have any relevance to asking price. As I said earlier, people seem to be willing to pay the asking prices (that is until I want to sell something and then it magically is worth nothing). :meh:

It's a conspiracy to get you to sell your junk cheap. We're all in on it.:flipoff2:
