So, two days ago I FINALLY purchase a TLC from a local guy here in Denver. Already has am IH8MUD.com sticker on it so I saved money there(not sure of his user name.) I go buy some fender flares form the local YOTA scrap yard, and two tan sun visors.

As soon as I get home I start prepping the flares and paint them with some bedliner spray on application. It comes out great! Get a few mounted, but run into an issue with the ones that go over the rear doors...There is nothing to mount them to! Long story short, that puts me into a mode to find another outlet of modification...

I look at the hood and ALL that white and think to myself "I bet that bedliner would look kick@ss down the middle!" I go back to the store and they are sold out of the cans. I end up getting the same brand, but in a roll on application at the advice of the salesman. Get home and go at it...nothing like the spray on! It's all goopy and textured unlike the somewhat smooth appearance of the fender flares. Has anyone ever worked with the roll on application on the body of a car? I am wondering if I can sand it down to be smoother??

You be the judge and be kind when telling me that I just completely eff'ed this thing up...:bang:

I have use roll on Herculiner before. It will clump on the roller and then onto the surface you are applying it to. Almost impossible to get it perfectly smooth.

I decided to take the tape up....bad idea. Since the bedliner material has those thin hairs in it, it clumped together making it impossible to keep a straight line with the tape. I will try to make it better with a spray can. I guess I can't really make it worse!

what kind of bumper is that? It looks good.

if it were my hood I would remove it from the vehicle and spray the entire thing with either a trusted bedliner OR 3m body schutz thats what I used on my lower section and I am happy with it.

River runner- sand it down as smooth as you can and respray it with 3m - will be fine

Buying a LandCruiser is never a mistake...no matter what you paint it.:D

Oh, and welcome :flipoff2:

Hello fellow Denverite ! Not a clue bout the coating but I would like to learn bout it. IF you need a hand lemme know be happy to assist.

oh yeah - :flipoff2:

Welcome

First Off :flipoff2: Welcome to 'Mud.

As far as your flares are concerned you should have two tabs per door that you fasten them too. If they've been removed from your Cruiser than I would suggest getting some from the same place that gave you the flares. They're riveted on so the rivets will have to be drilled out. If you can't get a set I have mine still from my flare removal. I can ship them out to ya if you need (just pm me). As far as the hood.....Good luck. That bed liner is made to not come off so I don't know the first step to removing it. I'm sure someone on here has had to deal with it. I would suggest stripping it off (how ever that is done) and hitting it with the can.

If you really want it off a heat gun and scraper some elbow grease. Otherwise go with it I like the star trooper look.

ZRHeard - what brand roof rack is that? Want one......

Ditto! That thing is nice!

I sanded it smooth last night and I have to admit, it looks A LOT better. It's growing on me

I think I am going to leave it for now and get a game plan together. I jumped too soon in the beginning, so I may just relax a little

I agree! Although my girlfriend called it "the soul patch" which I'm not too fond of:eek:

Not sure of the brand of bumper, but it is probably WAY more expensive than your roof rack if you want to do an even trade, I would consider it:D P.S. The bull bar is aluminum:eek:

I think it looks good. I would black out the wheels though.

Lol. Roof rack will be with me for a good long while. But check out gamiviti that's where my towers came from and they have some nice racks.
