Did all 74 FJ40’s come with a windshield frame with wiper motors on the top or was is it a split year with wiper motors on the bottom as well? (1 Viewer)

Have a 74 FJ40 that’s missing a windshield frame and was wondering if all 74’s came with the wiper motor on top or did the later part of 74 have the wiper motors on the bottom. I’ve seen a bunch of 74’s in pictures with windshield frames both ways and almost positive I’ve owned a couple 74’s with the wiper motor in each spot. Looking to get a windshield frame for it and just trying to figure out which one is the right one for it. Here is a picture of the windshield hinges on it now. To me it looks like it’s suppose to have the early windshield frame since the hinges look earlier, but I could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated

That is a early, motor on the top, hinge. the newer bottom mount hinge has a kick out that clears the bottom mount motor when windshield is fold down.
I had a Dec 74 build (USA) that had the upper motor mount. I believe it was original but not certain. I had a Oct 74 build that was original that was top mount motor.

Thanks I thought they were just wanted to make sure so I didn’t get the wrong windshield frame. Thanks for letting me know. I found one in dune beige but it has the motor on the bottom

To my knowledge all wiper motor were on the top until 1/75. Years ago I had planned on adding a 1/75+ to my 68. Would have been easy to 9/67-12/74. Everything would be bolt on. Even had a later model windshield including hinges and later hood. In the end just bought a later cruiser. 68 did end up with 79 doors.

While it wasn't in North America do remember it was either the windshield or door on a pickup that changed a few months earlier than 1/75. But not in US.

Well that’s neat. Love learning something new. (I knew later year 40’s had lower WW motors on the bottom, just didn’t know the hinge was different...)
