Does the swap change the backspacing at all on it? Generally I've read that the backspacing of 3.5" is ideal but on a 15" rim, the conversion will rub slightly/corrected with some grinding off part of the caliper. 16 or 17" rims are better.

I have not heard this, the disc brake conversion should not present a clearance problem for Toyota rims. There are tie rod end clearance problems with Chevy rims, and possibly caliper clearance problems as well with Chevy rims???

The reason why I'm asking it that I found a set of 35 1250 15 on chevy black steel rims from a k5 blazer. My experience is from my mustang is that disk brake swaps will possibly change the track width and thus change the backspacing.

I never had drum fronts, but when I upgraded my '76 calipers to mid 90's 4 Runner calipers I did have to grind down the ribs cast into the calipers. IMHO it was very minor, and would be dependent on the type of rims you have. At the time I had "D" shaped hole that were were rolled in just enough to touch the ribs of the new calipers. Minimal grinding was required with a small .25" spacer and I was okay. When I switched to bead lock without a rolled in hole, I wasn't even close without a spacer.

I believe that it will depend on the rim and calipers that you choose. HTH.

I ran 15x8 AR Outlaws on my drum setup and had to use 1/4" spacers, even with the correct BS. When I swapped in a '77 axle I did not need a spacer with the same aluminum rims:hmm: Now i have stock steelies and still no spacer. Cannot speak to a '60 knuckle swap.

Howdy! Most Chevy 6-bolt truck rims are 4.0 backspacing, so it often creates a clearance problem. Only way to tell for sure it to test fit one. John
