Note: I don't have welding equipment...and rig is DD

cap off the little pipe that 'feeds' the exhaust pipe (just before cat con)
. . .has check valve 'just under' steering column
. . .my check valve leaks,a lot
Will a brazed plug on the check valve hold up ?
I don't think 'solder' will ( not sure)


How 'bout EGR valve (to intake manifild pipe)
. . mine is 'just EGR valve'


Anyone found threaded stuff that works ?
. . .the brass 1/4 NPTs work real well for air injector plugs !

you should have three problem pipes, you listed two. how did you plug or deal with the pipe off the back of the exhaust manifold? the end of the pipe should point at the egr cooler located at the base of the engine.

the egr/threaded pipe end; go to lowes plumbing section, they have pipe caps that match the thread of the nut on the egr pipe.

the pipe/valve from the cat should not leak. but if yours does i guess you could screw it off and plug it with some crap that will stand up to the high temps.

The #6 ex. coupling for EGR 'feed'
fabbed a metal plate, used gasket as template.

cutten 3/16 steel with a dremil was fun . . .

here is the egr plug

...soft metal of plug negates slight thread difference. it's a temp fix until I buy a welder. In the faq tech section there is a post showing how to weld a plug and make the plugged egr side look more original

i gotta ask. where do you live where you can de-smog an engine, and still pass MV inspection

What did ya do with the pipe that leads to 'just before' cat converter...
I was thinking of 'tapping' ID and pipe plugging it too . . .

yea, it's 3/4. I did not go to a real plumbing supply store (just plumbing stuff), but if tried there i'd bet they have a brass version.

the cat tube I have not done anything with, the valve is new and does not leak.

when I get some free time I am going to install headers and have the cat "replaced" with a cherry bomb or something along those lines. that should fix two of the extra pipes.

Check Valve "plugging"

A 3/4 inch pipe cap will thread on to the hose nipple/bulge on the check valve.

Makes a very 'air tight' seal !
