Hello: I know this has been batted around many times but I am wondering if I should try to desmog my 60. If so, how do I know what to remove? Would it benefit me at all? If not, I need help finding a clean vacuum tubing diagram to show me where missing tubing goes that was removed by others. Thanks, Ed

This has been, er, "batted around many times". :) There are pluses and minuses; recommend that you read some of the existing threads. It benefited me, but YMMV.

You need a copy of the "2F Engine Emission Control Repair Manual", which can be downloaded for free right here on Mud. If you can't find it on a search, then PM me with your email address and I will email you a PDF copy.

Thanks for the reply. I am probably going to leave the emission system as design, I just need some help trying to make sure I am getting everything into the correct place. Mechanics around here do not want to touch it. I sent you a pm. Thanks, ed

I would say yes, if it isn't a requirement where you live.

I like the cleaner engine compartment, I like the 20 mpg on the highway, I like the easy starting and smooth running.

All you need to know is here on 'Mud. My truck was half-arsed desmogged by a PO, I followed the directions and it wasn't hard to sort it correctly.

Hi Ed

I'm down in WBP, When I bought mine it had a poor desmog job done on it. I followed advice on here, put a trollhole carb on it and am very happy so far. If you are going to stay in FL I would desmog it, everything is neat and clean. If you do desmog I would stay away from a weber, I didn't like the one that was on mine at all. Get Jim C to desmog your carb or buy one from trollhole.

If you can de-smog your truck, by all means do it. Follow the threads here and you should be good. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I weren't in Kalifornia.

Engine will run cooler, marginally better gas mileage, far fewer things to go wrong or diagnose if engine runs poorly...
