I ran a search for "fuel depressureization/ fuel pressure, but nothing that specific came up.
I picked up a fule pressure regulator from c dan. Checked the book on how to depressurize the fuel system...It says that i have to d/c the open circuit relay, but ill be damned if I can find it. Can someone post a pic as to where it may be in the engine compartment? Can I d/c the EFI main relay insted? Any other suggestions?

Thanks gents,

Chicago

You don't need to do all that, really. As mentioned elsewhere, by simply letting the car sit overnight and opening your gas cap (letting the pressure out) before anything, you can safely replace the fpr; it'll be depressurized for you. A little gas will leak out, but not a lot. Just have a rag under there and you'll be fine. I just did this two weeks ago.

And do NOT overtighten that banjo bolt when you're installing the new one or you'll be replacing it as well. Mine sheared off as I tried to tighten it to factory specs. Just be easy on it.

HMMMM, I thought it was a LOT more complicated than that...
Thanks Ballardcruiser.

No, it's not complicated at all.. I just did this (after putting it off for four months).

But be careful with that banjo bolt. I never did reach factory torque and it broke right off.

Howd ya get it out? did you have to use an EZ out or something like that.
I know on my Ford F150, it's supposedly a big deal to d/c the fuel system. So I thought it was the same for the EFI LC's.
I alredy went out and popped the gas cap off....
Thanks

I just twisted mine a bit and it came right out. Like said before tho, make sure you have a rag ready to catch the fuel that will come out.

Did you notice a difference after the changout? My sis has a 62, and we'll be doing some stuff on it this summer.

I know a couple of guys on this board noticed a big difference (for the better) once they swapped out the FPR, but when I did it, I didn't really experience any great improvement. MPG is the same, as is idle, acceleration and everything else. I am glad to know it's new in there, though.. one less thing to worry about.

One thing I learned the hard way... after breaking off the factory banjo bolt I went to Napa and bought what appeared to be the same sized banjo bolt as a replacement. But it had three holes going through the bolt instead of two (like the Toyota one). Drove like crap. I ordered a new banjo bolt from Toyota and that returned it to normal.

But if you break the bolt and find yourself in a pinch, I still have the Napa bolt sitting in my garage. You're welcomed to use it and it will get you around town till a replacement arrives.
