Bought my 98 LX at ~170k, it's at 205k now and my cat heat shields have rattled like hell since I bought the thing. I finally had enough and just cut them off yesterday after trying hose clamps, high temp rtv etc.

Today my truck threw P0155 for O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (DTC P0155 Bank 2 Sensor 1 = Passenger side/ Right side front sensor) Trying to decide if I should try replacing the sensor or if it's something that's just going to happen without the shields on.

Anyone have any idea if I'm going to throw these check engine codes all the time now that I've removed the heat shields? Is there another option like a heat wrap or something that doesn't involve reinstalling rattly cat shields?

When you “cut off” the shields, did you use a reciprocating saw or otherwise vibrate the surrounding parts? That could have accelerated the O2 sensors demise.
Indeed I did! Good thinking. I'll get a replacement ordered and try and wrench it off this weekend.
