So I went and broke one of the exhaust manifold to y-pipe studs, and there's absolutely nothing to grab/weld to. I've never really dealt with this before, so I'm turning to the experts before I try anything stupid...

heat the flange and try to grip whats left of the stud with vice grips or a stud puller and back it out. that or cut it flush, get some very sharp drill bits and start drilling it out

Best the flange to break the bond on the stud. Then use these with an impact driver

I swear by these. If you have the right size grip, they only need 3/16 - 1/4 to grab

Thanks guys, will drop the Y and take a crack at it this weekend. Does an upgraded stud exist?

I don't think you need an upgraded stud - stick with the OEM and use some anti-seize.
Studs P/N is 90080-12008
Nuts P/N is 90080-17187

4 of each will run you about $25.

Been there, done that. As stated, remove the pipe and you’ll have about 1/2” of stud to work with. I used an M10 stud remover and it worked like a champ. I also hit the edge of the flange with some MAP gas. I think that made a tangle difference.

Toyota OEM stud is what you want to put back in

Brake fluid on the top of the broken stud will sort out the rust and make for easy extraction. You will have enough meat to weld a nut on if need be.

I think the 90080-12008 studs are for the manifold itself. I believe the 90080-12007 are the downpipe studs. I could be wrong though
