Dead water pump? (1 Viewer)

Hi - finally de-lurking here. I've got an '87 60 that I'm about to send into the shop (Johnson's in Wedgwood, for any locals who care). The main cooling fan has lots of play in it and was making horrible noises; I'm guessing it's the water pump, but wanted to see what you good folks think. I'd love to try to tackle it myself, but don't really have the space or tools right now (not here, anyway). Thanks for any advice, wisdom, etc.

definitely the water pump. easy job to do your self with a couple basic tools and a couple hours. check the play in the fan clutch and the condition of your belts.
