As I was inspecting my 20+ year old alarm system, I noticed some rust on the instrument panel reinforcement (i.e., the transverse metal member that supports the dash) where it attaches to the frame on the DS.

@musthave, did you encounter any rust on the reinforcement?

What are your thoughts on treating it?

While it's out you could install the OEM passenger grab bar on the dash.

This is very common. Not sure why but this seems to be about the only part on most cars that never gets painted.

Curious where you sourced a new dash? Is this a dealer item that is still available?

I bought one from Toyota a few months ago and I think mine was one of 3 left in the US. I think oak may be the only color available now if I remember right.
