Is there a way to turn all the exterior and interior lights off while the engine is running?
But leaving heat and music on.

I was recently sitting in my LC on a cold night and I wanted to be able to see the stars but couldn’t really because of all the lights on inside and outside the vehicle.
Turning off the head lights actually turned up the brightness on all the interior lights and screens.

I know there was a thread here where one of you spoke about taking a LC to a drive-in movie, but I can’t find it now.

I ended up covering the dash and info screen with a towel, but there has to be a better way.
(not to mention all the other small lights all over the truck. Elbow and footwell lights)

No dark mode that I am aware of but you can turn off the infotainment screen from within the menu system. You can dim the other binnacle backlight with the rheostat on the dash. I don't know about all of the other courtesy lights.

I'm actually kind of confused. Don't most of the lights only come on if you have the headlights on?

Ah. I didn’t know I could turn of the infotainment screen. Good to know! Thanks!

And yeah, I did dim the dash lights as much as the rheostat allows. But they never went completely dark.

But those courtesy lights on the elbow rests on the doors or in footwells never dimmed or went off even when I turned the head lights off. Though they are not terribly bright.

I wonder whether putting a light source above the solar sensor on the dash might keep those from turning on as well. Then shield that so it isn’t impacting night vision..

If you get REALLY desperate, is there a fuse that will turn them off?

Nope.
I just tested this idea. Those lights are always on. Independent of the solar sensor.

Yeah. Probably a fuse or two would work.

But I doubt I get that desperate. I guess I should have put my question into the stupid question of the day thread. I was just wondering/hoping that there would be an easy answer ; Like a “Drive-in Movie mode.”

We never left our vehicle running at a drive in movies back in the day. That would have been horrible breathing everyones exhaust.
Oh. I hadn’t thought of that. I have never been to a drive in. But what you say makes sense, at least in the warmer climates.

Fuse is the only way. I had a Saab that would shut everything off but the speedo, I loved that for night driving.

THAT is some awesome engineering from Saab. I saw a top gear/grand tour where they described Saab's history in brief. They had some epic cars.

It was a very fun car to drive, 2007 SAAB 9-3 Aero, it had a touch of torque steer but the turbo and 6-speed made for a fun daily driver. The only issues I had with it were GM related parts and unfortunately they stopped importing them a few years after the '08 crash. It was a great car and at the time I thoroughly enjoyed driving it.

We had a 2000 Saab 95 Aero.. Silver with BBS wheels.. I loved that fast ass car.. torque steer and all.. I do remember and used the dark mode..
Quirky but awesome engineering in that thing.. Too bad about the GM DNA infection in later years..

Agreed, they were fun. GM is trash so I am not surprised about what happened. I actually got to drive mine at Road Atlanta, it was a blast. I loved the quirky aspects as well like the key/ignition in the center console.
