dark grey cube in water jacket

    dark grey cube approximately 1x1 in. in water passage
    of 3FE block, after machine shop did a bore an hone
    Is it some type of block sealer? it’s like a dry clay.

    The only way it could have gotten where it is, is through
    the freeze plug hole before the new plug was set.

    You are correct. It is block sealer. I found out this is common practice while I worked for an automotive machine shop. It is to insure there are no leaks and therefore no unhappy customers complaining about said leaks.
