Dan, probs with a fs46

It cranks and idles fine. Once you take it off idle it stumbles and dies. Pulled the tank and the filter is clean as is the air filter. Could there be a piece of trash stuck in the jet? Fuel pump dying?

COuld be all that but it also could be a plugged spark arrestor screen.

No, it sounds normal. I forgot to add that is throttles up fine if the choke is partially closed.

Did you take the fuel filter apart and look at thte syntered cone inside? They are a pretty fine micron count and does not take much to plug them on the smaller cc units.

The only other thing that popps into my mind is maybe a hole in the fuel line or maybe the primer bulb.

Your comment about throttling up under choke is the key. You have an air leak. Either in the fuel line, carb boot or crank seals. Start at the tank and start ruling out possibilities from there.

my fs45 did the same thing, pulled the carb apart and cleaned the jets then blew it out, has run fine since. Choking can mean an air leak but it can also mean blocked passages, running it in choke ups the mixture.

does it have to small screws in the side of the carb with a plastic guard on them then one larger one at the bottom of the carb? (recoil side)

If so pop the platic caps off of the smaller two and turn the screw out a 1/2 turn.

sounds like a blockage in your carb.

If you have one of the lesser desirable carbs with only one small screw in it the only thing you can do is pull it apart and hope you can get the jets cleaned. With fixed jet carbs there is no opening up the high speed jet any more than OEM settings
