Well, everyone here seems to talk mostly about the 4.2 engines (which I love by the way), and big heavy 3.9 litre 4 pots. But I've been cutting my teeth on vnt turbos with the 1VD V8 engines and the 3 litre 4cyl 1KD engines. (And both of those couldn't be more different)
I can tell you first hand that vnt definately are far superior to wastegated types but are a real headache to modify. This is primarily due to metallurgy of the vnt system and considerations regarding mass flow all going through the turbine.
So, I have posted dynos many times regarding the 4.2 engines and thought I should do the same on the 1KD.
These engines are in standard form:
Power: 127kW (92-96kW/112-129hp) at wheels
Torque: 343nm
