Need to narrow FJ80 axles and looking for someone who makes custom length shafts.
Coming up empty.
Anyone?

You might do a search for WelderBilt in Placerville, CA.

He did some custom double splined shafts for my narrowed FJ80 rear full float project.

I might have his contact info in the first 3 or so pages of my build thread.
Dude, I've scanned that thread all the way to page 9 and all of a sudden you're talking about D60s

No contact info I can find

Bobby long can't make the flanged axle shafts like come stock on the FF axles, but he can make double splined shafts with drive flanges that will work, like Lil John said.

TADA! sounds like a good choice to me. just makes em more of a 2 peice VS 1 big peice. :meh:

I don't know why he wouldn't bring that up.
Hell, I spent 15 minutes on the phone with him, trying to come up with an idea that would work.
At some point I would think he'd say, "well, here's another idea..."

total crap if you ask me....

"Designed To Last A Lifetime" my :censor:

1.) short side that busted right in the middle, pictured right after I pulled it out.
2.) long side twisting spline up pretty bad.
2.) QC let a few batches of long side 60 series axles with an improperly hardened bearing surface out. these are gouged and grooved after only 500-600 miles. hard to see in the pictures but very obvious in person.

I'd run Moser axles long before Poly.
You're paying premium price for a mediocre item.

I sent the shaft to Moser.
They will make the FF version for just under $200/shaft or the flanged one for $300

Moser's good, you'll definitely get your money's worth from them.
My sole complaint with Moser is last I heard, they don't warranty their hardware. It shouldn't be a big issue, as chances are, there are few things in the world that'll kill the axle. Nonetheless, I've seen one instance of a spun axle, and a warranty would have been nice then.

without having something specially made it was / is the only option. none the less they are not worth the $470

Damn you guys are scaring me about the PolyPerf FJ80 axles. Are these the 80 full float axles? I have them in my 55, I also have the Longfield Superset, and they are already starting to click..... tough to get "unbreakable" stuff.

Ryan

the ones I broke were semi float but strength should be about the same none the less. the longs I have up front have 5-6 hundred hard trail miles on them and dont make a sound.:meh:

I dont know if this has been covered, but what about longfield shafts splined on both ends, and a front part time hub from a 60, or full time hub end off the front of an 80? Could that be made to work (for the rear axle)?

This is what i have planed, and i planed on using his flanges as well.
What i did on my PU was to leave out the axle seals and lube the bearings with the gear lube.
If i remember correctly Bobby Long can only do up to 47" long so keep that in mind.
For my PU (Ford 9" center / Toyota outters) i used Strange Engineering for axles, 31 spline on one end and 30 spline on the other. I think they were $360.00 for the pair but that was 17 years ago.
