Custom gas tank (1 Viewer)

I'm planning to swap a 3FE into my FJ40, and I'm trying to get all the legal issues out of the way before I do it.

I need to keep the factory FJ62/FJ80 gas pump. It's considered part of the smog equipment and needs to stay.

That basically means a custom tank. Has anyone here ever built one to fit the factory space? Or would it be easier to cut up a stock tank and fit the pump in it somehow? How does the pump mount inside the tank?

Pictures are most helpful if anyone has any.

I have a fj62 and had to replace my pump. It's installed thru the top of the tank the same way the sending unit is installed. So the pump just has a flange that is screwed to the top of the tank.
