Only the 4 banger .? damn ..

It is only the first to be released in a series. I'm pretty sure it will have plenty of power to push a FJ40 down the road, while getting much better than 9 or 10 MPG.

I may have missed it, but will this engine require exhaust after treatment if used in a 2008 or later vehicle? '08 was the year that this started.

If CA allows this, it should be a popular swap if they make kits.

I wonder what the price is?

That is really cool actually. That motor would be great in the majority of cruisers. I know I'd love one in my LJ78. Makes stock 1HDT power which is plenty really. Here is a link with some power specs etc.: Repower - Consumer Crate Engines - Cummins Engines

How useful this is will all be depends on what adapters are made available. I imagine popular domestic transmissions (like the AX-15) will have adapters fairly shortly, but I'll be surprised if they are developed for Toyota transmissions in the short term.

I have looked, and have posted the question about exhaust after treatment requirements. I'm having a hard time believing the EPA and several States - ie. California, would allow the use of this engine in any vehicle built after 2007, or possibly, 1998, when diesel emissions testing was required, unless it has emissions components.

Pre 1975 in any vehicle is no problem, and likely pre 1998 diesels are no problem as well.

If you put Foton Cummins into Aliexpress you will get all the major components and smaller parts with their USD price.(block $815) I haven't seen any complete units yet.
I'm assuming these engines are the same as those used in the Foton 4T trucks and 4wd.
