CSC Wildcat run Sunday 8-14-05 (1 Viewer)

Looks like Kevin, Rob, and I are off to Sycamore/Sugarloaf Mountain tomorrow if anyone is interest. Anyone and everyone is invited.

Meet at Baja gas station at 8:00am just outside of Fountain hills on Hwy 87 across the street from the Casino about 2 miles from the Beeline Shea intersection. If you want to meet us at the Dam at Sycamore creek we should be there until 9:00 or 10:00. From the Beeline Shea intersection travel about 15 miles NE on Hwy 87 turn left/north and follow the dirt road down to the creek. The turn off to Sycamore/Sugarloaf mountain is across the Hwy from the Four peaks turn off.

We have no plan or agenda just exploring and taken some pictures of the Dam for a future CSC rebuild project. Nothing hardcore just have some fun. Bring the normal stuff water food etc. There are some good play area to keep things interesting so pack your junk and come on out.

Weather is expected to in the low 90’s clouds and a 30% chance of rain.

Sun Spiders kick ass. I get them in the house all the time. The ones in the pic from Afghanistan are quite large compared to the ones at my place. They're usually no bigger than an inch or so.

Here you go, it's breached and the sand flat is gone. Much worse than when we were there in January.

WOW! There's way more involved there than I was thinking. Assuming that the next piece of wall at the stepped down area is shaped the same, it looks like it will be undercut soon too. With the water running there we will have a major project on our hands. The water must first be diverted away so that the wall above can be removed and the rebuilt. This is a very long weekend project. Much more than a day long event for sure. Maybe even a two stage deal is in order. A diversion project then a reconstruction project. I really need to get out there and do some recon for myself on this one. Is the road back to this point two whell drivable right now? Thinking about a run out there in the Taco maybe this wekend. WOW!?

Yep, it's much worse than it was, only about a three foot wide hole then, sad to see all that sand gone and replaced with mud. I don't think diverting would be practical, it would require too much material at this point. According to the Forest Service it's dry most of the time in October to December, that would be the best time to attack it. I was thinking build a new footer under it with the rock that's there, held in place with some concrete and stacking rock up half way or so on both sides?

not that its a big deal, but remembering that i am among other things an equipement operator and if we wanted to rent or otherwise requisition a backhoe or something we could easily handle that in short order.
