Hey guys
Wanted an opinion on wether this was over priced. It is in anchorage, AK. All I know right know is whats in the add. I think that it is a overpriced. And out of the price range of 5k. What would you offer?
1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-60

Thanks

I think you're pretty close with 5k. I paid 6K for mine with 115,000 miles on it, and now that I know Cruisers better, I know I paid too much.

I agree that is about the max I want to pay. And that included base line, lift and tires. This one fits the bill for where I was wanting to go. Are all the aftermarket parts boosting the price that much?

sent the poster an email saying "You have a clean truck and really sharp looking but price is a little high. Is there anything else you can tell about it? Did you do the 5 speed conversion? Anything else? Did it pass IM in washington or anchorage?" Waiting on a reply. It is early here and I work nights so I might not hear back till this afternoon by the earliest. Anything else I should be asking?

That is a nice clean Cruiser with nice care and some added bonuses... ie OME

but 11k is realy strong IMHO...

sounds like he added up his receipts and is trying to recovcer his investment...

I think your 5k is a lot more reasonable

While that is a nice cruiser with lots of extras, it seems the price is a bit high.

I paid 4k for mine last Nov. You can take a look at it on the registry. I just posted a few days ago.

11K is WAY too much IMO. I got my 1989 62 with 33's and a OME 2.5 lift with a perfect interior for under 4K....
Good Luck:beer:

Well, Alaska is a different animal than the lower 48, so our opinions on price are not terribly valid. Now that I have depricated my opionion, here it is: Does $11K seem like a lot of money? Yep. Can you sink $11K into a cruiser and get about what that Cruiser is represented to be? Yep. My only advice would be to have it gone through by a Cruiser expert. I mean really checked out from compression to oil analysis for metal. Pull up the carpet, check in every corner and under every body plug inside and out for rust. For that price, it should truly be perfect. Perfect inside, outside, mechanically and in appearance. Use every problem you find as a tool to whittle the price down. Once you have thoroughly gone through the rig and negotiated for the best price you can get, and if you can't live without it, and it is a good value to you, and you have the money, then buy it. Otherwise walk away and get yourself an ice cream cone. There will always be another one come along. Like an fj62.

The add doesn't mention a 5 spd, how did you find this out? Wheel bearings have been redone, how about the knuckles? Seat covers may indicate heavily worn seats. Without a 5 spd, the price is way high IMO, even for Alaska. Edit: Buy this one:(Mud Member has it listed in for sale section)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-...3A1|240:1318 Even with shipping you'd be money ahead.

I just asked if the 5 speed had been done. And it has not. The owner also said that they would consider 10k. HA HA HA. 89gashog I can't get the link to work. If you want to repost it that would be cool. But in the greatness that is craigslist another one poped up in fairbanks if any cruiser experts in fairbanks want to help out that would be cool. sale-wfg2q-1176865175@craigslist.org.

Update 2nd cruiser sold with in an hour imagine that. It looked cool. But there is a guy I have been talking to on the phone. And he finally posted a pic on craigslist. http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/1177693742.html. From what he has said to me there is also a set of studded tires for winter. I am going to call him and try to take a look tomorrow. Any thoughts about the sag in the rear. thanks guys

Any thoughts about the sag in the rear. thanks guys

i don't like it it makes it look like a backwards race car....but, it's pretty normal, unless the cruiser has new springs or has never had cargo in the back they will all sag eventually

i was wanting to lift it anyways like 2 or 3 in. so the flat springs is no big deal unless it is stressing something else. Any thoughts on what that might be or a non issue?

as long as there flat and not cracked/broken then it's fine

be careful of "a little rust" this can be a bit of bubbling in the paint over the rear wheel, or mean the frame is rotten and will crack in half... Definitely check the wheel wells for bondo, same for gutters, check the rear frame (especially open sections), around windows, and tailgate.

Keep an eye out and you will find a good one! Don't smoke anything the first guy did (11k?!? - crazy...)

GL!

update checked out the brown cruiser today. Run and drove good. Idle was about 1100 to 1400 rpm so a little high. Other than that no problems driving. The rust was above the right rear fender well almost through but the rest of the truck was pretty clean. One or 2 spots near a dent. Dents on the front of the hood and below the grill. Hood still closed and open well. 2X po's son had a slow wreck radiator is still good though.

If you are not in a hurry, that guy with the expensive rig may eventually get a whiff of reality and accept your offer.

I like scoring "the" truck: One owner, all receipts, driving and maintenance log, window stickers. It's no guarantee, but those trucks are usually the best platforms for continued use. My .02

So I wrote the guy an email told him his add ons are not worth what he paid for them. that I would give him 4-5k cash. If the cruiser was as nice as he said. And gave him my phone number. So we will see.
