It's that time again! CM 2013 registration is now open (cruisemoab.com).

Here are my choices:

1) Kokopelli overnight run (Tuesday - Thursday)
2) San Rafael Swell overnight run (Wednesday - Thursday)

Thursday - No trail selected (hoping for one of the overnight runs)

Friday:
1) Metal Masher
2) Hells Revenge
3) Poison Spider Mesa

Saturday:
1) Elephant Hill
2) Cliff Hanger
3) Kane Creek Canyon

Who else is going this year?

Evan

The Brady bunch from Salida should be there arriving Thursday in the Hundred.
Easy stuff - Fins on Friday and Elephant on Saturday.

Are the Slickrock cabin's decent? No wife and no kids, possibly just a friend coming along. I don't need a 5 star place, but just need a decent shower and a place to lay down. I don't want to bother hauling the trailer all the way up there, just for myself.

I would prefer to stay on site, in case I want to have a few tasty adult beverages, no need to drive after, but if its filthy, then I would rather get a room in town.

I am signed up and planning to go. Will drive up on Wednesday and return on Sunday. If anyone is coming up on Friday please let me know.

Gawldangit.
Won't make this year after all.
CM got trumped by an unexpected invite to a private Grand Canyon float trip.

I wish I would have looked at this sooner for you, but didn't because I'm not going to CM this year (unless there's some unexpected delay in training for me).

But I've stayed in a slickrock cabin (last year). They aren't bad, but they aren't anything special either. They have a plug to charge stuff up, if you need, but other than that they are pretty similar to tents in the middle of the campground. They aren't insulated or anything, but they do have a fan in the window. But cleaning all that cotton out of a tent can kind of suck, so....

Think of a Tuff-Shed with a bed and a plug in it, and that's what the cabins are like. Not bad, not good, but shelter with a door and a lock. You'll still be walking to the showers and restroom.

Jeff Zepp sent me an email saying I have to send dues to TLCA as a requirement to sign up for CM.

Not too surprising - how did you respond?

Trail assignments are up! Got an e-mail this morning, and got all my first choices:

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday: Kokopelli Overnight

Friday: Metal Masher

Saturday: Elephant Hill

Anyone else gettng trails yet?

Thursday: Porcupine Rim
Friday: Poison Spider Mesa
Saturday: Fins & Things

Sounds good Ron!

I don't really remember Porcupine Rim (I think I ran it once), but the other two trails are great fun.

For anybody who's run the Kokopelli trail in the past - should I expect some additional communication from the trail leader before it's time to head to Utah? I know I've been accepted for the trail, but I have a lot of questions. I did send a note to the head of the CM Committee, but I wasn't sure how this has worked in the past. I think Robbie has led the trail the last couple of years, but I'm not sure about this time.

We are supposed to meet at Rabbit Valley on Tuesday morning - where is it? Also, with a stock 80 gas tank (25 gallons), will that be enough fuel?

Thanks for any insight into how this has worked in the past.

Evan,
It's been, three years (?) since I ran it with Robbie.
I'm sure you'll be hearing from you trip leader - until you do:
I carried an extra 10 gallons of gas that I did use - I may have squeaked into Moab without but nice to have the peace of mind. There are no gas stops.
Rabbit Valley is west of Fruita on I70 - the exit is just before the state line. There is a primitive campground.
It's a great trip! Nothing too technical on our run - lots of varied terrain, fun camping and meeting folks.
Is Ellen going?

I agree with Juan, extra fuel is a good idea for this run. This is a great trail, you'll love it. I'd pack another air filter that way you can have an offroading filter vs hwy filter. Following a large group will produce a fair amount of dust and unless you can blow out your filter at the end of each day, having a second filter is a good idea.
