The 1FZ-FE crank bolt goes on at 300+ ft-lbs (307 IIRC) Dan has a shiny new 3/4" Snap-On torque wrench. Most 1FZ-FE guys break the crank bolt using a 3/4" breaker bar chained to the frame, then hit the starter. Seems to work though I haven't tried it yet.

This method will destroy a 1/2" breaker bar.

it can if done wrong. If it is placed against the bottom of the frame and held in place (with a strap) you get no broken tools

That method still breaks 1/2 inch breaker bars. I know of at least two, one being mine.
