Alrighty, it's taken me a bit to get a trip report up but here we go.

So we met up with the crew Thursday, gassed up, and hit the road. I could have taken more pictures but with a car load of kiddos and HAM traffic I sometimes forget.

Just before we pulled out.... I am so glad my dad drove along on this one. He had like 20 gallons of water in his GX that had no place to fit in Rathtar.

My kids couldn't wait to get rolling. I believe this is the first camping trip my youngest Brennan will remember.

Fast forward to the afternoon and like Movie-time we are at the air down...

This kid was just beside himself with excitement, trucks everywhere! The two took off in all directions to burn off some steam after being in the car for so long.

On the way up, my dad and his GX on their first off road outing...

Here are some pics on the way up...

Clear skies and great views...

I didn't get pics of setting up camp so....

Fast forward movie time again and it's the next morning!

The kids got right to work playing and exploring. I got to enjoy a nice sunrise, whether I wanted to or not.

If Brennan had a motto it would probably have been, "Don't let the lack of pedals hold you back!".

Later that day we went to Funnel Lake to hang out and let the kids practice casting. Good luck catching a fish in Funnel but Jade caught a dragon fly!

The line up....

My oldest got casting down well and tried his luck all over the lake. No fish though.

On the way out took the harder trail which had a little challenge especially at the beginning. It was very scenic and I might take that route in the future.

We ended the day with awesome food and campfire time.

The next day we hit up Baker Lake. Typically we had gone to Hidden Lake but decided to change it up. After fishing both, I'd say Baker seems to have more fish but Hidden is better for hanging out due to it's beach and shallow cove like section. Both are amazing snow melt lakes, very beautiful scenery.

Caught this little guy and set him free...

My passenger. Hiking this kid between 10,000' and 11,000' is quite a work out.

On the way back, looking at the plateau from the south.

Saw quite a few of these over the course of the trip.

And back at camp to relax and eat lots of food.

Good times!

Sunday morning we visited the "Memorial" that is near the campsite.

I just realized I caught the smoke rolling in which was to ultimately spoil many of the good views.

I took far too few pictures of these sorts of shenanigans.

We spent Sunday exploring mines and roads we had never traveled.

The bugs on the trailer were pretty bad so we doubled back and had lunch in a more forested area. There happened to be this abandoned cabin/shack thing.

Tim found another mine and the kids took right off...

Note the haze...
1600385842327.png

Upon returning the camp we were surprised to see we had the whole place to ourselves. The smoke must have chased them all away. It was very peaceful.

A good end to our last night...

Monday we headed home. Here is a picture of Arctodus getting 3 wheel action.

Total carnage for the trip wasn't too bad but there was some.

On the way out BMinSD had a brake caliper come off, take out the rim, and ABS speed sensor. We had planned to get up there, set up camp, and reconnect the next morning but he performed a miracle recovery and made it up there that same night.

Arctodus suffered a failed rear shock which took out the ABS sensor. The GX took a few scrapes on the underside. But most importantly, all rigs made it home under their own power to fight another day.

I'd like to explore a new place next year but need to prerun before leading a group. I am up for ideas.
