Do i need a course or fine spline birf. for my 77' fj40?

disc brakes, fine spline....and 76-78 were a slightly different birfield than the 79+/minitruck style. 76-78 have a slightly smaller bell diameter and a slightly longer shaft. 79+ birfs work, but you'll need to grind inside the knuckle a tad for the bell to fit and run a bolt/fender washer to hold it in the lockout instead of the c-clip at the end.

IMO, you should do the mod anyways since the 76-78 birfs are much more rare than the 79-91 birfs used on FJ40-55-60-62 and minitrucks (which are ALL the same, at least in the USA....)
