Toyota recommendation for the rest of the world is 20W-50 for hot climates, so that's what I run in my rig. Toyota recommends 10W-30 for ones operated in the US, so nether is wrong, run what you feel comfortable with. It's been beat to death search some oil threads.

Interesting. Perhaps the 5/30 or 10/30 recommendation is also linked to fuel economy. I'll make that wal-mart trip and try the heavy stuff for a few intervals.

there is no "perhaps" about it that part of the manual was not written by Toyota it was written by the EPA.

I used to have a link to a copy of the letter witch spelled out exactly what the manual should say.
