Looks like a Prado (120/150) or Hilux is the way to go...

Any thoughts?

Planning to retain Amex premium car insurance, decline CDW and retain the required CR liability insurance.

Have also checked out Nomad America, trucks come with camping goodies

Approx. $120 a day for a 120
" $200 a day for a 70 series

$80 per day for a Hilux through 'Toyota rent a car' (No camping gear, would bring our own)

$120 for a nice Prado through " as well

Any experience with the above?

I rented one in San Juan, Costa Rica (sounds like the same operation) - when I showed up, they didn't have a HiLux, but had a Mitsubisi 4WD high clearance P/U.

It was a good truck, and clean, but not a Toyota.

YMMV.

I had no problems with them or with the vehicle. It was an a$$-pain to fill out the paperwork.

We drove it all over the place.

Couple of pictures...

The last one is the one I really wanted, but...
